Alright, let’s break it down. Think of Google Ads as this super tool in your digital marketing toolkit, especially if you’re a B2B service-based company in Australia. It’s not just about throwing ads out there and hoping for the best. It’s about strategising—getting those high-value services of yours in front of the people who are actually looking for them. The real question is, how can you use Google Ads not just to show up, but to show up for the right crowd and make and convert? Well, it’s more simple than you’d think, and in this guide, I’m going to tell you exactly how you can run Google Ads for service based companies in Australia. So keep reading!
Do Google Ads Work for Service Business?
Absolutely. Yes. Why haven’t you done it sooner? Ha, in all seriousness I personally prefer Google Ads over another advertising medium. Why? Well for B2B it’s so powerful. You are literally reaching people who are looking for exactly what it is you’re trying to offer. With targeted campaigns, service businesses like yours can achieve wider brand awareness, drive leads, and increase conversions.
Maximise Your Reach with Google Advertising in Australia
Costs can vary widely based on competition, keywords, and the quality of the ad. In Australia, the average cost per click (CPC) can range from a few cents to several dollars, with premium services often at the higher end due to the value of the leads. Businesses must assess their advertising budget wisely to ensure a good return on investment. So if you think of it this way, let’s say on average it’s costing you $3 per click, and for every 100 clicks you get 10 leads (Conversions). Then you need to spend $300 which will give you a cost per lead of $30. Not bad right?
How Do I Advertise My Services on Google?
Advertising your services on Google requires a strategic approach, obviously:
- Keyword Research: Identify the keywords your potential clients use to find services like yours.
- Crafting Your Ad: Develop compelling ad copy that highlights what makes your service unique. Focus on the value you bring to your clients.
- Landing Pages: Direct your ads to high-quality landing pages tailored to the service advertised, optimizing for conversion.
- Bid Strategy: Choose a bid strategy that aligns with your campaign goals, whether it’s maximizing clicks, impressions, or conversions.
- Monitoring and Adjustment: Regularly review your campaign’s performance and adjust your strategies as needed for optimal results.

Offer Creation Strategy:
Creating an offer that converts on Google Ads for service based companies in Australia requires understanding the searcher’s intent and meeting them with the solution they’re seeking. This will also increase the quality score of your ads and in turn make them cheaper to run and increase your conversions.
Here’s my quick & easy formula:
Solution + Timeframe + Guarantee = Compelling Offer
For example: “Boost Your Leads in 30 Days or Your Money Back.”
High-Converting Google Ad Copy Template:
Start with the Problem: Address the searcher’s issue head-on.
“Struggling to Generate Leads?”
Introduce Your Offer: Clearly state what you’re offering.
- More leads
- Effective targeting
- Measurable ROI
Timeframe + Guarantee: Add urgency and assurance.
“See the difference in 30 Days or Pay Nothing.”
The Testing Phase:
Test a range of different Keywords: Identify which keywords bring the best traffic. I recommend typically only using phrase or exact match keywords. Phrase looks like this “ ” and exact looks like this [ ]. Wait but what in the world is a phrase match? What is an exact match? Don’t stress, I’ll explain…
Broad match is the widest net, catching a vast range of searches, even loosely related to your keyword; it’s like casting wide in the ocean, hoping for the best. (Not recommended for 99% of businesses, however, feel free to try it in your testing phase to get some data.)
Phrase match, marked by quotes like “ ” is more selective, catching searches that include your exact phrase in the order you specified, with maybe a few extra words on either side.
Exact match, enclosed in brackets like [ ], is the most precise; it only catches searches that match your keyword exactly, ensuring that every click is from someone looking for exactly what you’re offering.
Optimisation and Scaling
Focus on High-Performers: Invest more in the ads and keywords that show the best results and turn off the ones that do not work. There is seriously no need to spend money on something that isn’t performing as well as another. This is why it’s crucial to A/B test.
Begin Scaling: Slowly increase your budget on best-performing ads, always monitoring for changes in performance, and WATCH OUT for Google’s automated changes. Ensure you’re in control and turn off all of Google’s automated adjustments. A lot of the time they’ll ruin your campaign and you’ll be scratching your head wondering what the heck just happened.
Throughout, keep an eagle eye on your ROI. Google Ads is about finding what works and doubling down on it. And remember, every keyword, every ad, and every click is a step towards understanding your audience better and serving them exactly what they want.
What Now?
In conclusion, Google Ads can be a powerful tool for premium service companies in Australia, offering a direct pathway to reach potential clients actively seeking your services. With strategic planning, thoughtful execution, and ongoing optimisation through negative keywords and scaling the best keywords, your Google Ads campaigns can drive substantial growth in your business. For example, one of our clients spent roughly $3000 on Google Ads and closed $350k in sales that same month. This is not a daydream, this is just another Tuesday for us here at Unreal Media.
